MARLON SMITH’S BASKETBALL BIO
Smith attended Archbishop Molloy High School in New York City. He was mentored and coached by the legendary Coach Jack Curran—the winningest coach in New York State. In his junior year, he scored in the top 10, averaging 23 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2.5 steals, leading his team to a #4 High School National ranking.
Smith was highly recruited by many top D1 programs like Penn State, Ohio State, University of Pittsburgh, West Virginia, St. John’s, and Rutgers. However, he decided to attend Penn State University, where he became the first freshman to take part in the All-Big Ten Freshman Team. Smith also landed in the top 5 scorers of the Big Ten Conference league games while at Penn State. He continued building his basketball resume to the point that he became an NBA prospect to be drafted as a second-rounder in the NBA mock draft.
After his collegiate career, Marlon Smith played professionally in several countries, including Cyprus, France, Turkey, the Dominican Republic, and the Jamaican National Team.
Founding Marlon Smith Basketball, however, has provided Marlon great professional and personal fulfillment by allowing him to share his vast basketball experience and knowledge with young athletes. He strives to help players in, and surrounding areas of New York City maximize their full potential. Smith also travels to several cities in the USA and worldwide to train and host basketball clinics/camps sharing his love for, passion, and knowledge of the game.
